CONGRATULATIONS

Gero and Debbie McHenry at the GKCDTC Obedience and Rally trial and earned two additional legs towards his Rally Advanced Excellent title (RAE). To earn this AKC title, a dog must double qualify at a trial in Rally Advanced and Excellent.

Gero is #7th for GSDs in "Front and Finish Rally Combined Scores for 2017."  Front & Finish® Rally Rating Systems, ranks dogs placing first through fourth in AKC all breed Rally Advanced and Excellent classes.

Bobbie and Charlie Schiffelbein's beautiful Raven went Winners Bitch on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.  Saturday and Sunday were majors and on Sunday Raven also went Best of Breed over several very nice specials.

That same weekend Max, owned by Tom Phillips, went Winners Dog and Best of Winners on Thursday, Reserve Winners Dog on Friday and Winners Dog and Best of Winners on Saturday. He now needs only two points to finish.

The next show weekend in was in Claremore, OK hosted by the Claremore Kennel Club of Oklahoma. Raven added two more Majors and another Best of Breed over 8 Specials to her resume. She has just a few singles left to complete her Championship.

Bobbie Schiffelbein, Lynette and Jim Stone's beautiful Peeta won a huge American Bred Class on Saturday in Claremore at the Specialty under Steve Dobbins.

"X," Charbo Jalyn's Xtorsionist v Tanbark Lauguin owned by Laura Shearin, Charlie & Bobbie Schiffelbein and Chris Kimerer went 2nd in the same American Bred Class, he is 20 months old so we were very pleased.

Little Miss Teaqua owned by new member, Linda Carriger also did well in her puppy classes Friday and Saturday at the Heart of America Shows as well as Friday and Saturday in Claremore. She is just learning the ropes to this show stuff and had fun in the ring.

Thank you

A warm thank you goes out to Ray & Betty Laughlin, Hospitality Chair for providing refreshments for the April meeting.  Also, to Carmi Swift, Program Chair for organizing the webinar on Essential Oils.

April General Meeting

There was a great turnout for the General Meeting held in April with the room being filled to capacity.  We welcomed five guests; Melinda Taylor, Jamie & Scott Kurzen, Linda Carriger and Genese Molitor. In addition to our members and guests, we had six furry friends join us.

The Program for the evening was a webinar that discussed the benefits of "essential oils" as a healing alternative for pets.  DVM's are using various types of oils to treat many ailments such as cancer in dogs.

Carmi Swift can provide more information on the topic if anyone is interested.

Scott and Jamie Kurzen were guest at the April club general meeting.  Jamie found us on our club Facebook page.

Three cheers for social media.  They plan or joining the club with a family membership. They are currently participating in the Tails & Treats training in the Park.

Read on to learn more about the Kurzen's.~

We recently moved to Kansas City, Kansas by the Wyandotte County Lake.  We have a little over 4 acres and I am hoping to get a doggie daycare/rescue up and going soon.

We joined the club as I want to learn as much as I can from everyone.  I am mainly after training for myself and family to know how to work with Marley Rose and Jerzee Monroe so that they have the best behavior and manners when we are out in public, (and at home) so that people can see how wonderful the breed is.  Marley Rose is our 4th German Shepherd Dog and Jerzee Monroe is our 5th.  I am sure we will have some more over the years to come. Our goal is to take the pups to a beach one day to play in the ocean, but for now they will have to enjoy boating at the lake.
