TRACKING TEST
Test is Sunday January 20th. There will be 4 T’s and 4 X’s offered.
Saturday, January 19-20, 2019, Tracking Combined TD/TDX, Smithville Lake, Smithville, Mo
Connie Austin and Ulysses James are the judges for the 4 TD and 4 TDX combined test on January 19 and 20th.
The following club members have volunteered to assist with the tracking trials: Chris Kimerer as secretary and driver for the judges, Rosi Von Fintel as the chief tracklayer, Sally Hamm is the chairperson, Debbie McHenry is on the committee. Nelson Hinman Jr., Lynette Stone, and Tiffany Bartley will be helping with tracks. We will need more people to lay tracks and help with hospitality.
Saturday the 19th is plotting day so we only need the tracklayers at the Smithville fields for the time of their specific plotting of a track so it’s not an all-day commitment. We generally start plotting around 9:00 a.m. and it usually takes about 45 minutes to plot the TDX and 30 minutes to plot the TD tracks.
Only one of the cross-tracklayers needs to be present on Saturday so they know where the two will walk in and out of the track. We will know more about times after the closing and the judges tell us when they want to start. We will need a hospitality person on Saturday to bring lunches to judges and volunteers. On Sunday tracklayers need to be at their field at the predetermined times and stay to follow the dogs and handlers when they run the track. Hospitality needs to bring breakfasts and hot beverages the Litton Center by 7:30 a.m. to set up. The draw for the TD is at 8:15 a.m. and the first track runs at 8:30 a.m.
We are generally finished by around 12:30 p.m.-1:00 p.m. and go to celebrate at the Mexican Restaurant in Smithville. Everyone who is interested in this sport is welcome to come and watch on Sunday. We hold these tests regardless of most weather so volunteers need to dress appropriately and wear good sturdy shoes or boots. Fog and thunderstorms may delay times but I’ve only known of bad ice to actually cause a cancellation.
