THE RAINBOW BRIDGE

"Just this side of Heaven is a place called "The Rainbow Bridge."

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to "The Rainbow Bridge."

There are meadows and hills for our special friends so they can run and play together.

There is plenty of food and water and sunshine and our friends are warm and comfortable

All the animals who had been ill or old are restored to health and vigor;

those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again,

just as we remember them in our dreams of days gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing;

they miss someone very special to them who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together,

but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.

Their bright eyes are intent; their eager body quivers,

suddenly they begin to run from the group, flying over green grass,

their legs carrying them faster and faster.

You have been spotted and when you and your friend finally meet,

you cling to each other in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.

The happy kisses rain upon your face;

your hands again caress the beloved head,

and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet,

so long gone from your life but  never absent from your heart.

Then you cross "The Rainbow Bridge" together....

2003-2016

Passed - January 17, 2016

Max came to us through a rescue organization headed up by Anne Mackey. He was found running the streets jumping on the doors of St. Elizabeth Church. He came home with us and became our first long-coat German Shepherd Dog. He fit in well with our two Border Collies and cat. Max was an eager student, his temperament was so gentle and willing that he picked up skills quickly. He really loved Rally, and could be seen bouncing through the exercises, bushy tail waving wildly. He started to show some reluctance to perform the Drop on Recall exercises, which was so unlike him; he always wanted to please me. After a visit with our vet and x-rays it was determined he had severe hip dysplasia. That ended his obedience career but not his willingness to learn. He went on to teach me how to track, earning my first AKC tracking title. Max was a sweet gentle soul who was so attached to his family, he accepted new members to our pack with grace and patience.

We never really knew what his actual birthdate was, the vet estimated his age when we found him, so we picked March 15, 2003.

"He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion."

      Feb. 7, 1998 - June 2007

Alvin was in one of the first groups of German Shepherds to receive the prestigious awards of "Award of Excellence"
He was a select four times! He also had titles on both ends of his name including his CD title, Herding Instinct certification, and was Canine Good Citizen certified. He was a Register of Merit in both the US and Canada proving his producing abilities! His progeny continue on to this day. He was wonderful with children and always made a big production at shows "pick pocketing" people for cookies. He stamped his paw on all of his owners and breeders hearts and to this day is vivid in all of our memories of him and his progeny. We are honored that his head shot is being used at the logo for the GSDC of Gr. Kansas City.
