The German Shepherd Dog Club of Greater Kansas City, Inc.
In 1923 when the German Shepherd Dog Club of Greater Kansas City, Inc. was founded the founding members, in Article II of the Constitution and By Laws clearly stated the purposes of the Club shall be:
a. To encourage and promote the intelligent and selective breeding of pure bred German Shepherd Dogs and to do all possible to bring their qualities to perfection and encourage scientific research for the improvement of the breed.
b. To do all in its power to protect and advance the interests of the breed by encouraging sportsmanlike competition at dog shows and obedience trials.
c. To educate the public generally as to the uses, habits, characteristics, advantages, training, care, companionship and treatment of German Shepherd Dogs.

e. To promote the use of the German Shepherd Dog in civil defense, armed forces, police duty, guide dogs for the blind, rescue service and gratuitous obedience exhibition for charitable institutions.
Today, eighty seven years after the above words were written they still serve us well and the purposes of the German Shepherd Dog Club of Greater Kansas City, Inc. remain the same. The Club members strive to assist anyone who is seeking information about our breed.
The Club hosts two Specialty Shows and one Tracking Test per year. There is never a charge for admission and we encourage your attendance.
In addition to our shows, the Club meets inside monthly to present educational programs that require electricity for a DVD player and TV. However, when the weather turns warmer during the late Spring and Summer months the Club meets at outside locations with their dogs, everyone gets some exercise.
We invite you to get acquainted with our Club through this web site then call one of the members listed so that we may answer any question you may have and also help you to fully enjoy our wonderful breed.
The German Shepherd Dog, the breed that is dedicated to serving mankind in so many ways.
We look forward to meeting you.
